McDermott, a global leader in engineering and construction services, has been awarded a significant project management consultancy (PMC) contract by India Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL).
The contract entails the development of the Maleic Anhydride (MAH) unit at the Panipat Refinery and Petrochemical Complex, situated approximately 62 miles (100 kilometers) from New Delhi, India.
Scope of Work
McDermott’s scope of work for this project includes comprehensive project management and consultancy services for the MAH unit. This encompasses front-end engineering design (FEED), a thorough review of engineering activities, construction supervision services, assistance during start-up, pre-commissioning, commissioning, performance guarantee test run, and project closure.
Established a Partnership with IOCL
“McDermott has a long-standing relationship with IOCL and is currently overseeing the execution of three large-scale projects at their Barauni and Haldia refineries,” stated Vaseem Khan, McDermott’s Senior Vice President, Onshore. A Revolutionary Milestone for India
The MAH plant at the Panipat Refinery and Petrochemical Complex marks a significant achievement for India, as it will be the country’s first mega-scale facility for manufacturing chemical products of this nature. Maleic Anhydride is a crucial component used in the production of specialty products such as polyester resins, surface-coating plasticizers, agrochemicals, and lubricant additives. Additionally, the plant will also produce Tetra Hydro Furan (THF), a widely used substance in adhesives and vinyl film, as well as Butanediol (BDO), which finds application in engineering-grade plastic and biodegradable fibers.
