Nouryon licensed its CS2 tech to Indonesian fiber manufacturer

Nouryon has licensed its cutting – edge carbon disulfide (CS2) manufacturing technology to one of the leading manufacturers of viscose fibers in Indonesia to enhance its production on Sumatra Island.

In order to better service its customers in the Asia / Pacific region, any CS2 excess volume produced by the plant can be marketed by Nouryon.

In many industrial processes, CS2 plays an important role. It is also used in agriculture, pharmaceuticals and mining, in addition to its application in fiber production for products ranging from textiles to tea bags.

In a single, cost-effective continuous process, Nouryon’s CS2 technology allows high production capacity. In Argentina, Germany and the USA, Nouryon operates its own CS2 production, and this deal is the third license agreement for the company.

“Since the technology was implemented, the manufacturer’s plant has been confirmed to produce even better than forecasted results,” said Ignacio Garin, General Manager Sulfur Derivatives at Nouryon. “We are very pleased to see that our technology and expertise can help our partners achieve growth.”

Egbert Henstra, Managing Director Ethylene and Sulfur Derivatives at Nouryon, added: “Collaborations like these allow us to build a global CS2supply network and simplify our logistics, as well as improve our customer service and better meet growing demand for CS2 across Asia-Pacific.”

Nouryon has achieved another CS2 milestone recently with a first-ever commercial delivery of CS2 to a Chinese customer.
