Bodal Chemicals Ltd, an Indian dye and dyestuff manufacturer has acquired the remaining 42 percent stake in Trion Chemicals Pvt Ltd, a producer of specialty chemicals for swimming pools & water treatment in the Indian state of Gujarat.
The deal is expected to benefit Bodal Chemicals in diversifying its product range.
“The objective for this acquisition for the company is to expand and diversify in business of specialty chemicals apart from dyes & dye intermediates. This opens new line of activity for the company,” the company said in a BSE filing.
Established in 2009, Trion Chemicals is one of the largest manufacturers of dyes intermediate, dyestuff and sulphuric acid in India.
The company has recently completed commissioning of specialty chemicals plant at Khambhat in Anand district of Gujarat and started manufacturing trichloro isocyanuric acid (TCCA). This is a first plant in India for TCCA having export as well as domestic market potential. Trion is mainly targeting the US market and has already acquired EPA license in the US for environment protection.
TCCA is a disinfectant, algaecide and bactericide mainly for swimming pools and dyestuffs, and is also used as a bleaching agent in the textile industry.
Trion’s Khambhat TCCA plant has production capacity of 12,000 tonne per annum.
