India’s Anupam Rasayan Signs $182M LOI with Japanese Multinational

Anupam Rasayan India Ltd, a chemical manufacturer, announced on Thursday that it has signed a letter of intent (LoI) worth $182 million (Rs 15 billion) with a leading Japanese multinational to produce and supply three high-value specialty chemicals.

New Molecules for Specialised Polymers and Liquid Crystals

The three molecules to be manufactured by Anupam Rasayan will be advanced intermediates for highly specialized polymers and liquid crystals, which will be added to their existing portfolio. Anand Desai, Managing Director of Anupam Rasayan, expressed pride in the partnership, stating, “We are proud to announce that we are partnering with a leading Japanese multinational to add three new molecules to our portfolio. These three molecules will be used as advanced intermediates for highly specialized polymers and liquid crystals.”

Exclusive Supplier of Molecules from India

Anupam Rasayan will be the sole supplier of these molecules from India, strengthening their position in the fluoropolymer and electronic segments while manufacturing high-value molecules and adding to their value chain with customer support. Desai commented, “This is in line with our strategy of expansion in the fluoropolymer and electronic segments, manufacturing high-value molecules, and going up the value chain with the support of our customers.”

Demonstrating Technical Capabilities and Sustainable Supply Chain

According to Desai, the letter of intent demonstrates global multinational corporations’ growing confidence in Anupam Rasayan’s technical capabilities and sustainable supply chain, reaffirming the company’s emphasis on “Make in India.”

Existing Manufacturing Facilities

The new product will be produced in Anupam Rasayan’s existing manufacturing facilities, which include six plants located in Gujarat, with four in Sachin, Surat, and one in Jhagadia, Bharuch, with a combined installed capacity of roughly 27,200 tonnes as of December 31, 2022.
