Dow Chemical is closing its acrylic emulsions facility in east Charlotte this July. The company said that it made the decision after thorough assessments on sustainability of the operations.
The company will decommission the plant on July 31st and will supply the product to its customers from other locations.
The Charlotte site produces acrylic emulsions used in adhesive, paint and coating production.
Dow Chemical and DuPont merged at the end of August 2017 to form the $130 billion DowDuPont. The new company has dubbed its materials science division, based in Midland, Michigan, as Dow Chemical. It focuses on performance materials and coatings, packaging and specialty plastics, as well as industrial intermediates and infrastructure.
