Glenfarne Energy Transition partners with Samsung Engineering for green hydrogen and ammonia projects in Chile.
Glenfarne Energy Transition has entered into a collaboration agreement with Samsung Engineering to conduct feasibility studies for multiple green hydrogen and ammonia initiatives in Chile. This partnership is a part of Glenfarne’s Hydrogen Fuels Initiative, which aims to advance the energy transition globally.
Green hydrogen and ammonia have the potential to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and they can be used across various industries, making them an adaptable substitute for fossil fuels.
Green Pegasus Project: First project under the agreement
The first project under the collaboration agreement is the Green Pegasus, which will have up to two gigawatts of solar photovoltaic (PV) installed capacity. The project is expected to produce 459 kilotons of green ammonia and 89 kilotons of green hydrogen annually, with a focus on exporting to Asia, specifically South Korea, and Europe, where Glenfarne has multiple business and commercial partners.
Glenfarne’s CEO, Brendan Duval, said, “We see great potential for green hydrogen and ammonia from Chile to help further global decarbonization and achieve energy security.” He also expressed his excitement about partnering with Samsung Engineering to promote hydrogen fuel projects in Chile, Asia, and Europe.
