Gujarat Alkalies and Chemicals Limited (GACL), a leading player in the Indian chemical industry, has recently expanded its Caustic Soda Lye Plant at its Dahej Complex from 785 MTPD to 1310 MTPD in line with its growth plans.
As a part of this expansion, a new 700 MTPD Caustic Evaporation Unit (CEU) has also been commissioned to cater to the requirement of Caustic Soda Lye production at 48% wlw.
Supplied by M/s Alfa Laval, Sweden, the 700 MTPD Caustic Evaporation Unit is one of the largest capacity units in India at one location. This is a significant milestone for GACL and the Indian chemical industry as a whole. The successful establishment and commissioning of this unit demonstrate GACL’s commitment to growth and innovation.
The handing over ceremony of the newly established CEU was a momentous event, attended by the Business Unit President of Alfa Laval, Ms. Karin Forsberg, and other officials. The senior executives of GACL and other officials warmly welcomed Ms. Forsberg and her team for this milestone event.
This expansion project will significantly enhance GACL’s production capacity of Caustic Soda Lye and help meet the growing demand for this essential chemical in various industries, including pulp and paper, textiles, and chemical manufacturing. Caustic Soda Lye is a versatile chemical used in a wide range of applications, from cleaning agents and detergents to the production of aluminum, soaps, and plastics.
